In the context of increasingly dynamic international cultural exchange, cinema continues to play an important role in promoting the image & people of Vietnam to the world. The Vietnamese Film Week in Paris, held from December 5 to 12, 2025, was one of the most notable initiatives, marking a significant step forward for Vietnamese cinema within the international cultural exchange arena.

For the First Time, 17 Vietnamese Films Premiered for French and International Audiences

The Vietnamese Film Week in Paris marked a special milestone as, for the first time, 17 Vietnamese films—including feature films, documentaries, and short films produced over more than half a century—were systematically presented to French audiences and international friends.

The selected films reflected diverse historical periods, social themes, and creative styles, offering a multi-dimensional portrait of Vietnamese cinema from tradition to contemporaneity. The careful curation and programming enabled international audiences to approach Vietnamese cinema within a comprehensive and in-depth context.

More Than 6,000 Attendees from Over 20 Countries

Throughout the event, the Vietnamese Film Week in Paris welcomed more than 6,000 attendees from over 20 countries. In addition to film screenings, the program featured a wide range of networking and professional exchange activities, creating opportunities for dialogue between Vietnamese filmmakers and international experts, researchers, and audiences.

The strong participation of both the general public and professionals highlighted the growing appeal of Vietnamese cinema when presented in appropriate cultural settings with a clear and thoughtful curatorial vision.

Expanding Cultural Exchange and Promoting Vietnam’s Image

The positive reception from French and international audiences contributed to a meaningful presence of Vietnamese cinema on the global film map. The Vietnamese Film Week in Paris was not merely a screening event, but also an opportunity to strengthen cultural dialogue, foster film cooperation, and expand international networks.

Through this event, the image of Vietnam—its people and cultural life—was conveyed to international audiences through the language of cinema, a universal medium rich in emotion and capable of long-lasting resonance.

A Recognized Cinematic Highlight of 2025

The Vietnamese Film Week in Paris was one of two film-related initiatives led by the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) to be recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism among the Top 10 Outstanding Cultural, Sports, and Tourism Events of 2025, alongside the Da Nang Asian Film Festival.

This recognition affirms the role of cinema in Vietnam’s cultural promotion and international integration strategy in the current period.
