Following its success at the Busan International Film Festival, the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) continues the journey to bring Vietnamese cinema closer to international audiences by participating in the 38th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF 2025) – one of the most prestigious film events in Asia.
On October 27, 2025, the VFDA attended the Opening Ceremony of TIFF 2025. The delegation was led by Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Chairwoman of VFDA and former Director of the Vietnam Cinema Department, along with provincial leaders including: Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi – Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Hong Duong – Head of Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Dang Ngoc Hau – Vice Chairman of Son La People’s Committee, Ms. Giang Thi Hoa – Vice Chairwoman of Dien Bien Provincial People’s Council
and VFDA members:

Seminar “Vietnam on Screen: A Regional Voice, A Global Reach”
At TIFF 2025, VFDA and the Vietnamese delegation will organize a series of strategic activities to promote the development of Vietnam’s film industry in connection with tourism and cultural industries, including the introduction of a Vietnamese film booth at the TIFF Market. The key highlight of the delegation’s participation is the seminar “Vietnam on Screen: A Regional Voice, A Global Reach.” co-organized by VFDA and the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan.
The seminar brings together distinguished speakers from Vietnam, Japan, and across the region to discuss and share insights into the evolving position of Vietnamese cinema in the global landscape, as well as the opportunities, vision to action of filming in Vietnam.
The event will take place from 14:30 to 16:30 (Japan time) on October 30, 2025, at the Sakura Room, Imperial Hotel, Tokyo.
