The Vietnam Film Development Association was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its people-to-people diplomacy work in 2025.
On the morning of December 30th, in Hanoi, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a conference to summarize people-to-people diplomacy work in 2025 and to implement tasks for 2026. The conference was held in a combination of in-person and online participation, connecting to over 100 locations nationwide and Vietnamese representative offices abroad.
At the conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung and Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu presented Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to 27 collectives and 12 individuals for their outstanding achievements in people-to-people diplomacy in 2025. The Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) was honored to be one of the 27 awarded collectives.
In 2025, the Vietnam Film Development Association had many outstanding foreign relations activities, contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam and its people, and fostering international cultural exchange through cinema.
VFDA organized a working mission with major partners in the United States on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States. In addition, VFDA carried out activities to promote Vietnamese cinema at international film festivals, leaving a strong impression on international partners and the global media, including the Cannes Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, and Tokyo International Film Festival.
Notably, VFDA coordinated with the Da Nang People’s Committee to organize the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III). DANAFF III was organized in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selected DANAFF III as one of the Top 10 Outstanding Cultural, Sports, and Tourism Events of 2025. In addition, DANAFF III was also voted among the Top 10 Outstanding Cultural Events in 2025 by Sports & Culture Newspaper. The festival was further listed among the Top 10 Outstanding Events of Da Nang City in 2025 and the 15 Outstanding Literary and Arts Events in 2025 as selected by the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations of Vietnam.
Finally, VFDA successfully organized the "Vietnam Film Week – The Journey of Light" at Le Grand Rex, Paris, France the world’s most beautiful theatre, attracting more than 6,000 attendees and generating over 1,000,000 interactions across media platforms.
These results further affirm the role of cinema and Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) as an effective and sustainable channel for people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to the dissemination of Vietnamese cultural and historical values and images to the world.
